B & Q was founded in March 1969 in Southampton by Richard Block and David Quayle. The store was originally called Block & Quayle, but this was soon shortened to B & Q. They are a retailer of DIY and home improvement tools and supplies and each store offers advice and leaflets to help you with your projects around the house as well as offering design ideas for decorating. They are also partnered with Sutton Seeds for all your gardening needs.

DIY Shops in ChippenhamThe quality here is very good, and stock wise - I usual find what I need without any problems at all. The staff weren't incredibly helpful, I think I knew more than them about their stock etc-but none the less, I always use this store and they are brilliant priced too.
First of all I am not a shop lifter or a thief, I am a respectable 50 year old man, who’s “crime” was to try to take back a bucket of emulsion and exchange it for a credit note.
We purchased two ‘buckets of ‘Crown emulsion on Thursday the 1st of April 2010 and only used one, I returned today April the 6th to try to exchange it for a credit note to be told ‘ we have a new policy ‘ no receipt no refund .
I tried to explain that I had lost the receipt but had paid on my card, ‘no receipt no refund’ came the answer.
Could I speak to a manager I asked ? “All in meetings cane the curt reply “
So I stood outside the front door of the store and told everybody who came in B+Q’s new policy, after a while a security guard came out ( he was really nice and professional ) .
He told me that I had to move, I said I was protesting, I told him I was just informing customers of B+Q’s new policy , he was really professional and listened to what I had to say. This was in stark contrast to ‘ Damien and Peter who came out .
They were both wearing managers badges, Peter said to me that “customers do not want to hear you *“Vacillating”. I asked him what that meant and he said” look it up “ so obviously he did know what it meant . Then Damien Chipped in and threatened to “ detain me “ if I did not leave.
The security guard looked very concerned about this as he obviously new the law and detaining people who have not stolen anything is very dodgy ground.
The security guard then said that while he was with me he was not looking out for shop lifters, all because they would not exchange my paint !!
Damien now bolstered by his four large colleagues told me to “take you paint and clear off you are banned” ( lovely customer service )
So what am I left with, well obviously a bucket of paint, and the impression that some managers at B+Q use words they do not understand.
I will spend my money elsewhere
*NB Vacillating (means to sway )
I have been in and out of here over the last few months with moving house and we have bought lots of stuff. The store is very big and can be a bit daunting to find things but staff are always on hand to point you in the right direction or to help with anything you need. They are always friendly and very helpful. Pleanty of things in stock, you can walk in buy what you need, pay and leave. They have lots of good offer on most of the time, the only thing I find is some of it can be a bit over priced but the quality is very good.
This B&Q located on Kingsway Retail Park is massive and it honestly stocks and sells virtually anything you could ever want or need for your house and home, from ready made bathroom sets to lighting, fixtures and fittings. Free ample parking is located to the front of the store. As you enter the store you should be able to pick up a trolley or basket - to suit your needs. I have always found aisles to be well laid out and easy to find your way around, and in addition to this I have always found staff either down or around aisles who can readily point out where to find something - if say you are looking perhaps a little bit lost. Open 7 days a week and open till late means there is no reason why you shouldn’t get down to this B&Q and get DIY-ing . I have always found that staff who work there both in the week and at weekends are always friendly, helpful and polite
As you head along the A38 towards Mansfield you can not fail to miss seeing this B&Q, it is straight ahead of you as you come to the traffic lights. To one side of the traffic lights is Kings Mill Hospital and to the other side you see windmills. Yes you heard it right windmills. Because on the top of this B&Q are a row of windmills.
I can only describe the is shop as a superstore as it is massive, a warehouse beyond belief. The car park I can well describe as you could fit at least one or two football pitches in and that is just the car park. Heaven knows how many you could fit in the store itself.
With the store being so large you have plenty of choice when deciding what kitchen or bathroom that you want. When you need to redesign your garden you are spoilt for choice at the amount of plants, garden furniture and water features that there are on offer.
One slight down point with the shop is that with being so large you sometimes struggle to find staff but not very often.
Thumbs up from me
