The Co-operative has been planning and organising people's travel since 1920. Starting with sending small groups to France and Belgium they have now become the largest independent travel agent in the UK. They have over 400 high street travel agencies, plus call centres, online booking and a specialist cruise operation that takes care of over three-million passengers every year. Being truly independent allows them to offer the widest choice of cheap holidays and the best deals around.

Travel Agents in BirminghamThis co op travel located in Swadlincote is one of the first places you should head if you are looking to book a holiday, or perhaps even just a city break. Staff within this store are always friendly, helpful, reliable and knowledgeable, and I feel the customer service offered within this store makes it better than competitors around. Open 7 days a week I have always found this store to be competitive and reliable, whether you know what you are looking for, or you are just after ideas, staff work very hard to do their best to find you what you want for the price you want. Free Parking for this store can be found just a short walking distance away. Both internally and externally the store is bright, warm and welcoming, and it always has that holiday smell to it. Every time I have used this branch I have always found there to be a couple of members of staff serving and helping customers, so you don’t normally have to wait long to speak to a travel agent.
This is a very handy little travel agents, located in Town, that offers a wide range of holidays, breaks and getaways from last minute sunshine holidays to stay in the UK breaks and getaways. This travel agents is always clean and welcoming, although not the biggest travel agents you will ever see!
All members of staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful - they will sit you down and take you through what they have to offer - they will then try to find exactly what you want, taking into account your budget, requirements and so on. I have found all members of staff within this branch to be polite and good listeners which I think helps a lot when you are trying to book a holiday. Located within the Ilkeston Co-Op travel is a currency exchange counter whereby you can buy or sell foreign currency. Do shop around though as they are not always as good as other foreign currency providers.
Midlands Coop travel agents is situated in Station Road Desborough. There is a small public car park to the rear of the travel agency.
The shop is quite small but is always kept very neat and tidy. They offer a good range of holiday brochures for both in the United Kingdom and also Europe and the States. The also have great offers in the window which change weekly and they do special coach excursions throughout the year for those who want coach holidays etc.
The staff are always very friendly and helpful and will always try to get you the best deals possible and if you are considering a resort you are un familiar with and are not sure whether to believe the brochure, they will get out their travel agency guide which is a lot more ‘real’ and believable than the brochures.
The only real down side is the fact that the shop is so small it can easily become full with only half a dozen customers
Pros: this store has a post office in storewhich is a main branch. The store itself has the usual basic selectionof items including its own brand items.watch out for weekly offers.,these can be really good value. There are a small selection of toys.and seasonal goods. if you want a wider range i would go up the road to morrisons but fine for everyday items.
Cons: please be aware the carpark is controlled by cameras ,and parking tickets are £50 .i got one when the ticket machine wasn't working so please be careful. You can park for free for 30 minutes
Pros: Large store which stocks more than you'd expect including homewares and electricals. Its far more than somewhere to get your groceries. Items are good quality and often you find different goods in here that you don't find elsewhere, especially more health food / fair trade items.
Cons: Its not on the main street and with Morrissons coming to town its easy to forget the co-op is there. Not really a con for the consumer, more of a con for the co-op itself. Food can be quite a bit more expensive than the likes of morrissons etc and am not always impressed by the short shelf life left on salad items sometimes
