I think the Big Blue has gone down the drain! most mornings i go in im faced with a glum faced, dirty looking girl..she's short and wears glasses i dont think you can miss her. I feel the mangement of the whole place is shambolic! Whoever is managing this place needs to be fired!! Bad deals and bad food choices - ITS A CAFE! not a restaurant! keep it simple, home made delights are the way foward. UNHYGIENIC!!!
Unfairly treated staff:
“If the cafe isn’t very busy, sit down unpaid and wait for it to pick up, then you start being paid again” This is apparently the new rule for the staff at the Big Blue.
Not fresh food:
Cakes from the freezer, wilted salad leaves, a menu too big for the tiny food prep area.
Dirty toilet facilities.
Pros: This cafe is situated in the city centre but is down quite a quiet street in comparison to the busier high streets.
The atmosphere is very calm and alternative music (not heavy or anything too extreme) is played.
The staff are very friendly and are extremely helpful because:
A guy in front of me in the queue wanted a milkshake but to be warmed up. They said they would give it a try and within less than 10 minutes they gave him his order and he was satisfied.
The prices are what you would expect in a coffee shop although they are quite a bit cheaper than starbucks.
They make nice looking food although i have not tried it yet, i might do in the future because they had some nice sounding food ideas.
My friend is lactose intolerant and so she can only drink soy milk, they had this and she was very happy.
The crowd this coffee shop attracts is generally quite nice because there is a selection of business people with their laptops out and us students in groups conversing.
We will definitely be returning to this lovely little coffee shop.
Cons: The shop isn't that big and so does not have lots and lots of seats but definitely has enough.
The toilets are not that great and i wasn't sure where they where and i think i ended up going into the womens and washing my hands.... Ooops.
The toilet also had no lock but that was only temporary i think because it looked broken.
