Beautiful Building (Recommended)

Pros Personally, what I love the most about the library is its structure. The building is absolutely beautiful and it's incredible that it was built only in 1934. I think people have a tendency to expect buildings of this quality to be much older. They stock everything from popular fiction and non fiction, to language learning aids, audio visual and have a massive newspaper archive and reference section as well. The staff know their stuff! If you are having probles with something, ask someone. There is a Theatre in here as well.

Cons Unfortunately, it is expected to be closed soon for renovations and work that has to be carried out. In terms of the library itself though, I haven't got a singple complaint.

Beautiful Library. (Recommended)

Pros This library is situated in the centre of Manchester, it is a really old and beautiful round building. They have the usual facilities that you would expect from a library, books!! computers!! dvds!! You can borrow lots of things at one time and you can renew them online or on the phone. It is really easy to join the library and if you are a member of another manchester library you just use that card. The staff are friendly, happy to help. It's just a nice relaxing place to wander around, and while away a rainy manchester afternoon exploring.

Cons Pretty easy to get lost. The computers are kinda small, the scanner is hard to use.

Brilliant (Recommended)

Pros I don't see how you can rate this as anything other than 100% in all areas. The place is beautiful and most important of all FREE to use. Whenever I go it is busy - a real asset to the area.

They have a range of facilities - computers and the internet, CDs and DVDs, historical artefacts and most importantly books! Anyone can become a member. It's a really great place.

Staff are friendly and helpful and the place is clean, welcoming and bright.

Cons No cons at all, everyone should support their local library.

An incredible library (Recommended)

Pros This library must be one of the best in the country. As you walk in the immediate splendour of the building sets the scene. I'm unsure what era the building comes from but it sets the tone for intellectualism, maturity and the quest for knowledge in an adult way. In the countless times i have been here there have never been any children messing around and I feel this is due to the high expectations it has of the poeple that visit. There are areas of study, areas for tracing you family etc and the list goes on and on. A thoroughly impressive cultural destination for all to visit.
