    A Corny Night Out

    Jul 11, 2008

Pros: Bedford Corn Exchange is right in the middle of Bedford, it's host to quite a variety of different events, from evenings of entertainment with youngsters from schools and clubs around the area giving performances of all different sorts here, to local adult groups giving performances, and I've even been to an event where I very proudly watched my husband receive his diploma here.

The building is quite old, built around 1875 I believe, and it's quite a lovely building to look at from the outside (especially so since they cleaned it a few years back - before that it was really grimey!).
I believe that in the 1940's The Glen Miller Band played here (I remember reading this at the corn exchange - forgive me if I've got the dates wrong.).

As well as being host to all these evening events, they also have more mundane things going on here in the daytime from blood donations to sales of various items - I went to a second hand tool sale here once.

Cons: Being right in the middle of Bedford, parking is definately not easy, so if you do visit the place for any reason I'd suggest leaving yourself extra time as you'll need to park in one of the town carparks and walk across. They're not far away, but it's not like it's got it's own car park if you know what I mean.

    Lovely space.

    Jul 4, 2008

Pros: I have both been and audience member and performed in here many times. The space is lovely and you will definitely be able to see from any seat that you sit in. There aren't usually any amazing shows on here but the ones that they do have are of a good standard and are always advertised in the newspaper and on noticeboards around the town. Ticke prices aren't too expensive as they are usually around £12.
