Pros: Midsummer shopping centre has plenty of stores from debenhams, the apple store, H&M, top shop, waterstones and then theres all the places to eat and drink like burger king and starbucks.
Most of the shops in the centre you can probably find in any other of the big shopping centres, but if there were shops that are too fancy and extortionately priced they probably wouldnt get many people buying from them so thats probably why it has all the usual well known average shops and not gucci ect.
The centre is also kept very clean.
Cons: The only bad thing about the shopping centre is when the weather is not soo good.
This is because you can get very wet walking by the big oak tree or when you are walking into the old part of the shopping centre, the floor as you can imagine gets very wet and slippery, especially if it has been snowing there is ice on the floor of the shopping centre and its freezing to walk through. I dont even want to go in any shops when it is like this i jush rush straight through to the old bit so i can be nice and warm again,
Pros: They never get the temperature right in here. Not quite sure why they sell it as a different concern as the Centre MK as they are joined together but there you go.
The outside bit of Midsummer place has a big (dying) oak tree and some great snack eateries - Absolutely Souper, Quizinos, Burger King etc, then it goes undercover and there are some more upmarket shops than in the main centre.
Love the Panasonic shop, and Zavvi which is on 2 floors. Debenhams also worth a look.
Cons: Temperature - weird design means it's never right.
Pros: I love going to this place because you can park the car (if you can find a spot) and then get into the shopping centre to wander around the shops and the big department stores all under cover. You could literally walk from one end to the other without actually going outside.
The place incorporates a wide variety of shops, but I agree with the previous poster in that there seems to be a majority of clothes shops from all the major chains (mainly for woman).
One of the best bits is the bubble blowing clock outside Debenhams which plays a musical tune on the hour with various mechanical elements and figures moving around, finally finishing off with a stream of bubbles to fall onto the kids below.
Cons: Parking can be a problem if you try and park outside. Best to use the mulit-story by Debenhams.
Pros: A bit newer than the main shopping centre and as a result the decor is a little nicer.
The shops are no different and full with the big major chains and well known brands.
This section is probably a little more clothes shopping orientated than the MK centre.
Big old oak tree is nice in the summer to sit and wait for your other half in the shops.
The tiolet have the nice new hand dryers which blast your hands dry in a few seconds.
Cons: Can get versy busy.
No small indepdant shops to break up the big chains and offer some thing a little different.
The parking around here is all red line (exspenive range) so not so good just to nip in and out. At weekends it can be hard to park.
Pros: It seems a bit odd to me to be writing about this place as seperate to The Centre MK as personally I'd count it all as one... I think anyone visiting it probably would too. I mean they're bang on top of each other, you step out from the door of the original arcade and you're IN the other. How much closer could you get lol.
So Midsummer place - ok well there's a big tree in the middle of it - think I'm kidding? Honest there is. It's a very OLD tree, so they weren't allowed to remove it and had to build round it, therefore being Milton Keynes (well we do have our own concrete cows you know!), they made it a feature in the middle of the place and built all the shops etc. around it. Disavantage of this (yes I know it should be under cons, but then the paragraph wouldn't make sense!), is that when you get to this point of the centre, you get wet if it's raining where as all the rest is under cover so you err... don't get wet. - Sorry that was a little obvious wasn't it!
Anyway, this is where my favouritest (yes it's a word!) shop in the whole wide world is - Lush ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm smell that shop! Ok I lied, ebay's probably my real favourite shop, but it's virtual so no nice smells.
There's a section here where you can eat things (no not in Lush that would be silly, I know they smell good, but honestly...), there's a pret, and a couple of coffee shops, burger places, and so on all gathered close together.
Cons: Debenhams is here too. Blearg - my LEAST favourite shop in the whole world (yes including online stuff). This shop gets away with murder when it comes to saying it's complying with the DDA (disability discrimination act for anyone who wants to know), and not actually doing what it says it is. Without this shop here, Midsummer place would be almost perfect.
Pros: right next to the centre:mk
has a great punkyfish store!
Cons: can get cold
