Britannia Building Society (Recommended)

Pros I have to say this is one of the best Building Societies I have used. As a family, we have a number of different accounts with them, mostly because their interest rates have always looked really good. I have a regular savings account there, and the children each have a children's account.

Sadly, they don't have a branch local to me so all my dealings with them are by telephone and post, but I have never had any real problems. When we moved house I sent in the passbooks and a letter to notify them of a change of address. They updated our address and returned the passbooks very quickly. There was one slight problem in that they had forgotten to update the interest on the accounts. I rang them up and discussed this with the branch manager, Debbie Gallagher. She was very apologetic and asked me to send back the passbooks, marked for her personal attention. She went out of her way to ensure the passbooks were updated quickly and returned to me.

All in all, I am very impressed with the service and the interest rates offered - I would recommend this building society to anyone.
