We had a tasty dining experience on 13 February at the Traitor's Gate Brasserie, starters were delicious black tiger prawnsIn a spicy tomato sauce with Chilli, followed by peppered sirloin steak In a Brandy & Green Peppercorn Sauce. My girlfriend enthused over the breast of chicken fillets In a Fino Sherry Cream Sauce with Pancetta & Wild Mushrooms. The Tiramisu is the best she has tasted. I loved the cassata di gelato Layers of Ice Cream, Fruit, Nuts & Liquer All washed down with a bottle of Italian merlot. Service was prompt, polite and friendly. We travelled from Llanelli and were very pleased to dine at this atmospheric restaurant, we'll be back at the earliest opportunity.
I recently attended a Christmas party at this restaurant.
What a fantastic night! There were 12 in our party and we all had the wonderful Festive menu. The food was beautiful, all dishes were delicious.
The restaurant is truely atmospheric and the staff were all courteous and in good spirits.
I have never been to this restaurant before, but I will definitely be going back as it is one of Shrewsbury's hidden treasures!
Having read the reviews I took my wife & inlaws here.
I spent the rest of the weekend apologising to them.
The bread was sliced soft white & the olives were canned & tasteless.
The menu does not reflect the one on their website.
I had the soup for starters which was OK but the prawn risotto was like a rice pudding with a squirt of lemon & a few prawns swimming in it. My wife had the grilled chicken (dry & bland). The desserts were the highlight of the meal though. There are many better restaurants in Shrewsbury than this. I know, I have tried them.
Pros: This is such a lovely place, just off the main street, this restaurant is so unusual in apperance from the outside, looks small but is bigger on the inside. The venue is friendly, and great for couples who want a quiet romantic meal. There is a lunch time menu, which is more snack based for those in a rush. The staff are friendly, and really helpful, have good recommendations and very knowledgeable about the food.
Cons: No cons
Pros: This brassiere is a lovely little venue, very unusual, you almost feel as though you are under the streets of Shrewsbury. The venue is small and friendly, it serves an excellent array of meals, fresh food, a regular change of menus to introduce new foods and tastes. This venue is ideal if you want a special meal, whether that be a birthday meal or an aniversary, its as well suited for a couple of friends going out for the evening.
Cons: It is expensive restaurant, not an everyday venue.
Pros: love this place, soooooooo much, down under the streets of shrewsbury - well it feels that way, its so small and romantic, although you don't need to be a couple to go there, the manager is lovely and offers friendly service as do the staff, the quality of food is fab and really well worth the price, perfect treat for that occassion you want to celebrate, also offer daily lunch time menus for the lighter treat which are great too
