Barclays (Recommended)

Pros Flexible bank, good face to face customer service. When I have been in my local branch they took charges off my account without any hassle, other banks make you phone head office or write to them. They are helpful and friendly.

Cons Telephone banking is an absolute nightmare; I got fed up with being pestered to by insurance, payment protection etc when I was just calling with a query. I won't call telephone banking anymore because of it. Their sales department keep calling me too trying to sell me things even though I had verbally requested and wrote telling them I do not want to be contacted, unless it is by letter. Sales people are so annoying, AGH! Don't get me started on them!

excellent branch (Recommended)

Pros Located just inside the entrance from red oak car park.
Very handy and service is quick.
Recently updated the décor and lay out, much improved appearance now, looks more modern.
Its got cash machines, self help telephone and small desk at front if you have a quick question too.
Staff are always helpful and of course there are the free pens! lol

A great branch (Recommended)

Pros This is such a handy branch it is located in Telford Town Centre, so you can have a day shopping ans still be able to get more money. The branch itself is light and airy, there is a small counter service section, but still plentty of facilites around. There is a machine that prints off a copy of your last amout of transaction or since your last statement, there is a paying in machine, as well as a cash point. There are customer service advisors around that you can speak to if needed.Also a very good idea, which is only a shame more branches do not do this is have a direct line to the customer services, so more more hanging on and racking up your phone bill.

Cons The only con is the customer advisors who are seated, its not a very private area so anybody could hear you discussing your account.

My Favourite (Recommended)

Pros This has been my bank for years and I have found it very good and much improved over the past few years. It seems to have been really updated and the small counter service at the front is great if you don’t want to queue up, there are also cash and statement machines and the deposit boxes too.
You can sit and talk to an advisor in reasonable privacy too. the counter staff are always very helpful and you get serviced quickly which is very handy too. if you are standing in the queue, staff sometimes check if you just want to pay stuff in etc and can normally help you instead of waiting, this is good and makes great use of the aforementioned small counter at the front. There is also a free telephone to be able to speak to Barclays customer services, which is quite novel.
