About

IRTON HALL
We offer accommodation in the historic Irton Hall. A former stately home which enjoys the full benefits of this peaceful parkland setting, located in a quiet, and particularly beautiful area of West Cumbria. We currently offer accommodation for up to 14 people within Irton Hall. Please note we are happy to accept pets at all our accommodation.
Irton Hall has origins dating back to the 13th Century and is a listed building and the oldest part of the existing buildings is the Peel Tower. The majority of the other buildings are believed to be in the region of 150 to 200 years old.

Originally a single residence with ancillary outbuildings, it is believed that the Hall was subdivided into five main properties in the 1970s and various outbuildings either converted or demolished and new holiday cottages

    Perfect Birthday Retreat

    Apr 27, 2010

As a special treat for a few of us turning 30 this year, six adults and two dogs stayed in the Clock Tower for a long weekend. It was situated in a beautiful location seperate from the main building giving us some extra privacy preventing the dogs barking from disturbing anyone else. The grounds were perfect for playing ball games, exploring, taking short walks around and letting the dogs run free.
The individual bedrooms were clean, well decorated, very homely and all en-suit. The main living area was cosy with comfortable seating, log burning stove (which we mastered on the second try) eating area and very well equiped kitchen complete with dish washer (a novelty to the six of us!) The enclosed decking area with picnic bench and BBQ was the perfect setting for our party.
The Clock Tower is the perfect place to stay for extened/large familys and groups of friends. We're already planning on going back next year.

    A hidden gem.

    Apr 21, 2010

We stayed at Ormondroyd cottage over the Easter holidays and had a wonderful stay. The views from the living room were outstanding - plenty of birds to watch and beautiful sunsets. The accomodation was clean and homely with plenty of personal touches to make it feel like a home from home. The cupboards were stocked with guidebooks, novels, DVDs, board games etc. The childrens bedroom had TV and Playstation which was great. The grounds were beautiful with a badminton net and a huge grassed area for ball games aswell as a lovely wooded swing area. We visited Ravenglass by steam train and were regular visitors to the Bridge Inn. We love the West lakes because it is less crowded than other areas and cannot wait to return to this hidden gem.

    Come dine with me

    Oct 12, 2009

Stopped as a family of 14 in Irton Hall in early September. Absolutely brilliant for family. House and grounds are big enough for kids hide and seek Huge well-equipped kitchen was ideal for our Come Dine with Me competition. Stunning scenery not far away in Wasswater. Nice log fire for cool evenings.

Our stay at Copeland house, Irton Hall

    Oct 5, 2009

We have just returned from a long weekend at Copeland house. Our first impression were how nice and welcoming the house was, it is set in lovely surroundings, lots of space and excellent size of rooms. We are already thinking about booking up to go back again. We would also like to say how friendly and welcoming Christine was & even came to check that everything was ok and we were all warm enough and settled on out first night.

    Thanks again

Sajjad and Family, London - Clock Tower - Excellent Accomodation

    Aug 4, 2009

The most important thing about this property is that it is detached with no disturbances from next door neigbours and the privacy available especially the rear decking was very useful with nice views. loved it! very private sort of a place. We preferred this than staying at somewhere around busy crowded places like Windermere. Irton Hall is an excellent location, as we were able to go and visit all the lakes, and managed to view the beauty of the district through journeys to the lakes. We highly recommend this place to any family. I also met the owner Steve and care taker Christine who were very friendly and very helpful. We are very grateful for their hospitality.

The clock tower at Irton Hall

    Jul 20, 2009

We stayed in the clock tower at Irton Hall in May 09 and were very impressed everything you could need for a perfect mid week retreat
We went with my parents, daughter and son in law and their 2 friends the rooms were lovely the living area perfect their was plenty of space for us all the kitchen was very well equiped the bunk room even had a games console and the grounds were beautiful
Mum & Dad had the room upstairs for extra piece & quiet the outside decked area was very private had beautiful views and the sun shone, the bar -b -que was put to good use as were the books on walks in the area unfortunatly it was not cold enough to use the log burning fire but the games and puzels & DvDs were used into the late evening .
We had 3 cars and a Harley with us and used the ample parking next to the tower.
All of us would recomend highly & hope to return in future

    Irton Hall

    Jul 13, 2009

We had high expectations of irton hall and as we drove in we thought wow this is great, we stayed in copeland house and had nothing but problems from the start, upon arrival we were informed not to use the downstairs toilet or the onsuite toilet as both were out of order until saniflow man came next day! jacuzzi bath in main bedroom didn't work and the electric constantly went off! (plumber told us they new about the problem and that an electician was coming out next week) one night we had rain and water came through the ceiling via the light fitting soaking the bed (problem solved about the electric then) second day we had no hot water and plumber came third day to sort it out, I contacted the owner but never even received an apology just told me previous guests never had any problems! On a plus point Irton hall is a fantactic place and the grounds are amazing i just wish we could have enjoyed our time there.

    Irton Hall

Brilliant holiday location, excellent accomodation, a fantastic holiday.
I saw Copeland House on the website and fell in love with it, when we arrived it was even better than it looked in the pictures. The house is amazing, really well equipped and absolutely spotless. The kitchen is massive and has everything you could ever need, the lounge and dinner is great too, loads of seating and a fab view over the garden.
The bedrooms where big, with lovely en suites, ours had a jacuzzi bath which was lovely!
There where even loads of CDs, DVDs, Books and games to keep you entertained!
The grounds are gorgeous and its location is fab, it is in the middle of nowhere (but that's what we wanted!). There is tonnes to do in the area and we did loads of exploring.
I have already told loads of people about it and we are definitely returning as soon as we can.
Couldn't recommend Irton Hall enough, we had a nose at the other houses and they are all lovely and well worth the costs!
Get yourselves there and have a lovely chilled relaxing break.

The most amazing holiday rental I have ever, ever come across!!

    Nov 27, 2008

Pros: A friend organised hiring Broughton house (a wing of the main house) for a long weekend for me and a group or friends from back in the Uni days. It was ridiculously cheap when split between the group and although the pictures on the webiste where very impressive I was massively shocked when we arrived. The house is beautiful - seriously beautiful! It is decorated wonderfully throughout and is kitted out with everything you could want. There is a large sitting room with a study off to the left. The living room has a large modern TV and a pool table alongside an open wood burning fire. The room is very large and there is ample seating for lots of people. The kitchen is also very large - it has a big floating unit with a modern cooker and dishwasher, a 4 seater round breakfast table and large 10 seater wooden dinner table. All of sitting around that table in the morning eating a cooked breakfast before heading out into the wilds of the lake district was just perfect.

The bedrooms where all large (one in particular was humongous!) and the bathrooms where similarly large with rolltop baths adding to that lovely country feel.

I can't rave enough about this place and I will definately be going back and letting all of my friends know about it (hopefully I can book it in summer next year!)

The building is beautiful, the grounds are beautiful the interior is beautiful and it is in a very beautiful part of the world.

What more can you ask for?

    Cons: erm.............

    Still thinking............

No I can't think of anything.

It isn't massivley easily accesible but then you wouldn't want it to be in near a motorway - the whole point of going is to get out in the countryside.

    100% perfect if perfection exists.
