ValueA pub for the residents
Jul 16, 2008Pros: Here is a pub at the top of Ferrers Road. It has seen changes from many corner shops closing and landlords come and go. It sits in a road surrounded by three other roads in a triangle formation which is also the local resident’s association group and is just off Streatham High Road, near the common.
Within the last ten years, owners have giving this pub a complete overhaul, from the paintwork outside to all new furnishings inside.
Tables and chairs outside on the extended pavement, gives this area a great feel, particularly in the warm summer months adding to the atmosphere.
When street parties are held, something the local resident association tries to hold every year or two years, this pub also joins in and both participates and adds to the enjoyment of all. It has done for all street parties going back many decades.
It has kept the original name, which I like and I know the history of the real Earl Ferrers too!
Cons: If you are looking for a busy, High Road pub, this is not it. It’s in a quieter, residential area, off the main High Road. This means it’s not near the main High Road or even close to other shops. It is within walking distance to the lower end of Streatham High Road, but tucked away. -

ValueDisappointed
Apr 9, 2010The location is fine, the environment is good, choice of beers and wines is varied, and the food is acceptable (although not much for veggies). However, the service is variable - sometimes very friendly and, on other occasions, you can be ignored by staff.
