Great food, relaxed environment, good staff - 10/10

    Dec 5, 2008

Pros: This gastropub is minutes from kings cross tube and train stations and right next to the premier inn kings cross. It looks quite uninteresting from the outside but I thought I'd give it a go becasue I couldn't be bothered trying to find somewhere else.

    Brilliant choice!!

The interior is modern and stylish but relaxed with comfy chairs.

The staff where very unobtrusive but gave excellent service. my idea of brilliant service is the kind of staff who are available to help with anything but are otherwise not really noticed (almost impossible I know!). These staff got the balance perfect.

The food was also very good - I had herb stuffed chicken with watercress and duck fat roasted spuds -mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. My friend has a pie I asked if I could write he said it was good - he insisted I changed it to very good!

The extras where good as well - they provided free filtered tap water on the table which I really liked as we all know bottled water is expensive and bad for the environment.

All in all a great little place for a relaxed dinner with friends.

Cons: I suppose the menu could be a bit more varied - it is only a small menu - I would guess around 5 or 6 mains. But I suppose it best to do a few things well than lots not as well?

    Fine Dining for lazy days

    May 30, 2009

This place is incredibly close to Kings Cross station and is one of the venues changing the image of the area, it’s a stylishly decorated gastropub.

I have eaten here twice and totally recommend it, one was on a glorious Saturday morning meeting friends who were visiting London, I had the breakfast and sat outside in the garden, it was a fantastic experience being a lovely warm day and set the whole weekend off brilliantly, I had a London Bloomer and Smoked Bacon sandwich and this was gorgeous, so tasty and rich, it cost a fiver but was filling and really well made.

The other time I have been here was for a lazy Sunday roast it was excellent again, the food is really well sourced, we sat inside and enjoyed chat and papers with some wonderful food, prices are average for gastropubs in this area and the selection of beers, ales and wines is pretty good, for me this is a pub to be lazy and meet mates in but there is also an area upstairs for more lively people to have cocktails, with a terrace too and really let their hair down.
